About Emily

A mother of two young children, Emily and her husband Jian chose Markham to raise their family. Emily has been a resident of Markham since 2008 and has lived in Canada since 2003. She has worked hard to make a strong and positive contribution to our society her whole life. 


Originally from China, Emily is fluent in both English and Mandarin, and has a strong desire to serve everyone in Markham-Unionville and make our community a better and more prosperous place, both now and for the next generation. 


She is a dedicated, enthusiastic and goal-oriented young professional with extensive leadership and business experience, and a keen interest in building her community. Emily currently serves on the Discipline and Appeal Committee Board for the Home Construction Regulatory Authority, she further serves as the secretary of the UMS parents association and she established the Ontario Federation of Chinese Women in 2021. 


With experiences in immigration process and appeal hearings, Emily has helped numerous international students seeking to adapt to life in Canada, as well as with Chinese women who need help and support adjusting to a new society so they can live and contribute to Ontario. 


Finding the balance to her commitment to the community and her commitment to her family is where Emily hit her stride and wants to serve the people of Markham-Unionville with her energy and business acumen ensuring a positive, reasonable and responsible voice at Queens Park.
